Visual Arts Minnesota and 912 Art Gallery presents Second Fridays: the art reception for raku artist, Erik Karlson, and musical guests, Ganderson Family.

A mellower part of the evening will be from 7-9pm, featuring beautiful artwork of raku artist, Erik Karlson. By mixing science and nature, culture and intellect, Karlson’s work mesmerizes the audience in its simplicity. This Holdingford-based artist receives recognition in many art exhibits, and has mastered the clay form, while sticking to the non-functional raku methods.

////Music provided by Ganderson Family, beginning around 9pm. (Formerly made up of former members of -- "Those Lamplighters" and "The Nothingheads") Horace Christ, Malt Barley, Dan Wilson, Bob Huebner////

Ganderson Family is comprised of ex-members of Those Lamplighters and the Nothingheads, the two outfits that brought punk/alternative rock to St Cloud. While they have been concentrating mostly on recording the past years, a few live sightings have been reported. However, the show on the 14th will be their first appearance in St Cloud in almost 10 years.

Their new sound is more polished and civil, but the undercurrent of urgency is still there. Drawing on such influences as The Velvet Underground and Captain Beefheart, Ganderson Family defies categorization, for the most part. Apart from a few carefully chosen cover songs, GF plays their own music, which is available online through their label, Spyco Records. (Google and ye shall find)

Apart from a standard guitar/bass/drums approach, GF also features mandolin, saxophone, flute and accordion.
