The January selection will be "Birdie" by Candace Simar, who will lead the discussion. "Birdie" is the story of a Scandinavian family trying to make a living in Minnesota in 1873. They encounter many hardships, including bank failures and grasshopper plagues. This is the last book in The Ambercrombie Trail trilogy and concludes the story of Evan and Inga Jacobson, but it is a good stand-alone pioneer story for those who haven't read the first two books. Refreshments will be served.
