    “Open Doors” is Sarah Drake’s first solo art exhibit. It is the commemoration of the history made by her art exhibiting at the Marina Tsvetaeva Museum and Cultural Center in Moscow, Russia. She was invited to exhibit in Moscow after winning an international silver medal at a gallery in Upper Westside Manhattan. Sarah wanted to recognize that Americans were exhibiting for the first time at the Russian museum. As Sarah researched Marina certain words stuck out and she envisioned paintings based on these themes. Famine and poverty was a central theme throughout Marina’s life and as an upcycle artist, Sarah had cupboard doors which she saw as representative of what Marina didn’t have. There were ten doors, ten words and Marina had ten collections of lyrical poetry~ “Open Doors.”
