A contemporary composer and sound artist, Tristan Perich’s work is inspired by the aesthetic simplicity of math, physics, and code. His award winning work couples 1-bit electronics with traditional forms in both music and visual art. Perich’s work will be on display through the semester’s end.

    The Machine Drawing
Pen on wall drawing is executed by a custom-built machine which uses randomness and order as raw materials within a composition.

Tristan Perich’s Machine Drawing is a live installation that develops over time. The piece was installed on March 18, 2015 at 3:30 p.m. The final “image” of the piece will not be fully known until the end of the installation. A team of student/staff/faculty will be changing the pen every day. At this time, the custom-built machine, which uses code to direct the pen, will be removed. The image will then 'live on' as it appears on May 15, 2015.

You can also watch the live feed in the lobby of the Miller Learning Resource Center. We also encourage you to stop by the ISELF building to see the installation in person (please do not touch the canvas).
