    Main Series

The musical interests of Winnipeg-based James Keelaghan range across Canadian, British, Celtic,
and Latin traditions, and his songs address not only personal but historical matters--Scott Alarik writes that "Keelaghan's specialty is the epic ballad, songs telling mighty stories, often true, about mine disasters, fires, and bloody labor strikes." Performing and writing partners have included David Francey, Stephen Fearing, Jez Lowe, and, on two collaborative albums, Chilean-born Oscar Lopez. He has made eleven albums, one of which, "My Skies," won the Juno Award for Best Roots & Traditional Album.

"He writes with great humanity and honesty, with an eye to the past and a vision of the future. He has chronicled his times with powerful and abiding songs, with heart and eyes wide open." --David Francey
