An exploration of exquisite examples of Chinese art and architecture including bronze casting, jade, scroll paintings, lacquer, silk dragon robes, calligraphy, sculpture, temples and palaces within the historical and cultural context of philosophical, and religious traditions and imperial patronage.
The class will include a discussion of selected artworks from the rich Chinese collection at the Minneapolis Institute of Art and will provide a background for the museum’s spectacular special spring 2018 exhibition, “Power and Beauty in China’s Last Dynasty”. The Paramount has scheduled a bus trip to view this exhibition on Wednesday, May 16
