Joe & Vicki Price

Presented by Granite City Folk Society at Bo Diddley's Pub & Deli

Apr 26, 2018

Don't let the Iowa home-base fool you -- Joe and Vicki Price have the juke-joint blues sound down -- raw, stomping, and immediate. We're not putting sawdust or peanut shells on the floor, but the music will make you think it's ankle-deep and that it's not freezing outside but sweaty-hot. Website: http://www.joepriceblues.com/

Web of Regret: Escape the Expected

Presented by Minnesota Dance Ensemble and Paramount Center for the Arts at Paramount Theatre

Apr 27, 2018

Each decision and path we take affects the course of our lives. We do not know how each choice will affect the path, but we must leave regret behind and continue forward. The Spider’s web of regret holds us in the past and prevents us from enjoying the riches of today. Our journey may be disrupted by other’s expectations. Not choosing our individual life can cause a web of regret. MDE invites you to observe the journey of a prisoner of the past. Whether you are entangled or on your chosen path, we hope that you find the evening an escape from the expected. **Some themes may not be suitable for young audiences.

In between Quebec and Austin he has been a Marine, a taxi driver, a flight instructor, a bush pilot, and of course a peripatetic bluesman. He is a winner of Canada's Juno Award for Best Blues Album, the International Folk Alliance's 2009 Song of the Year Award, and the 2012 Blues Foundation's International Blues Challenge.

Millstream Arts Festival offers high-quality but affordable art created by regional artists representing diverse media including ceramics, 2 and 3-D artwork, jewelry, metalwork, woodwork, fiber, glass, unique photography and literature. Millstream is an art festival, not a craft show, and all work is juried. Live music is a popular part of the festival, both on stage and in the street. Such groups include Lavaanya, a dance troupe from the Twin Cities that brings traditional Indian folk dance fused with contemporary music and Bollywood style. A supervised Children's Art area provides rewarding and meaningful art projects. Our food court offers high-quality hand-made meals and treats. Another popular feature at Millstream is the Book End, a writers' tent featuring the works of local authors and poets. Festival-goers can also watch demonstrations of antique typewriters, paper-making or book-binding. Another popular feature at the festival is our vintage auto and tractor exhibit. But our…
