A couple years ago, singer-songwriter Dan Israel escaped his government day job to make music full-time. Not that he hadn’t been ignoring it for the previous two decades, as more than a dozen albums and hundreds of gigs testify. Also a Minnesota Music Awards Songwriter of the Year award, a listing as one of Austin’s top fifteen songwriters, and a City Pages’ 2005 Best Acoustic Performer award. A little bit of Dylan (or Prince), a little bit of rock and roll, quite a bit of autobiography.
