David Swenson Memorial Foundation 2014-15 Guest Artist Series: Tatsuya Nakatani, percussion

Acoustic sound artist and percussionist/drummer Tatsuya Nakatani will perform in the beautiful Gallery Vault, a space operated by the SCSU Student Art Union. The Gallery Vault is a non-profit gallery located in downtown St. Cloud whose mission is to strengthen the Midwest arts community through the arts.

Tatsuya Nakatani combines manufactured and homemade instruments in his improvisational performances. He uses a variety of drums, large Chinese gongs, Japanese Buddhist bowls, specially carved sticks and hand made hardwood bows to create sustained sounds through the bowing of the large gongs. The acoustics of the Gallery Vault will provide a very intimate environment for Nakatani’s highly unique music. Be sure not to miss this very unique concert.
