Singer-songwriter-guitarist Kevin Higgins and singer-keyboardist Barbara Malteze are “Ghosts of the American Road,” performing a kind of Americana they characterize as “Jimmy Webb meets Carole King meets The Civil Wars.” Five-time Texas Music Award winner Kevin gets compared to Steve Earle, Townes Van Zandt and Robert Earl Keen. Adopted Texan Barbara has twice been named Texas Music Awards Female Vocalist of the Year, and it’s hard not to hear in voice echoes of Janis Joplin.
