Meire Grove Community Band & New Ulm Municipal Band

Both bands strive to continue the rich history of the community ‘brass bands’ that were popular in western Europe, particularly Germany, from the mid 1800’s to current day. New Ulm is well known for polka bands and folk music, the New Ulm Municipal Band was organized in 1945. The Meire Grove Community Band, established in 1883, is celebrating their 140th consecutive year of performing! The band was inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame in 2017 and has taken two performance tours to Germany.
