Radoslav Lorkovic

OK, a classically-trained, Croation-born accordionist/pianist whose singing sometimes evokes Tom Waits or Randy Newman and who has released an album titled “The Po, the Mississippi.” If that ain’t broad-church folk/jazz/blues/rock/multi-national music, we don’t know what is. When Radoslav Lorkovic isn’t playing his own gigs, he’s backing the likes of Odetta, Jimmy LaFave, Greg Brown, Richard Shindell, Ellis Paul, Ronny Cox, Dave Moore, Andy White, or Bo Ramsey. Note the Iowa musicians in that list–Radoslav went to school at the University of Iowa, so he’s practically one of our own.
