The Naked I: Insides Out is an original performance created by Minneapolis’s 20% Theatre Company. The performance “explores queer and trans* experiences through monologues, short scenes, and spoken word poems” (see attached flier). The literature used comes from an open call for any writings that address queer, transgender, and/or gender non-conforming issues. The show itself is performed, directed, and produced by local artists, many of whom identify as queer and/or trans*. The Naked I presents “fresh voices and unique perspectives on what it means to identify as queer and/or transgender/gender non-conforming.” This show is truly groundbreaking. It discusses identities that are often invisible, discounted, and precariously situated in our culture.
