The tradition of the community band has been an active part of the small rural community of Meire Grove, MN since 1883, making them the longest continuously performing band in Minnesota. A large part of their success has been based on family tradition, parents playing and then their children playing when they were old enough. Today some families have several members in the band, one even has three generations playing side by side! Of course, friends and neighbors are also welcome. 

 In recent years the band has become more active, performing in several community concert programs and participating in local parades. Members have come from 17 area communities to participate, with 10 new members joining just this summer. The band is also recording a new CD this year.  

 In 2011 and 2016 the band traveled to Germany. They toured and performed at many of the towns from which Meire Grove community member families immigrated. 

 In November 2017, the Meire Grove Band was inducted into the ‘Minnesota Music Hall of Fame’, being the first Minnesota community band to receive this distinction.
