Remembering Bela

Presented by Paramount Center for the Arts at Paramount Center for the Arts & Gallery St. Germain

Exhibit: Wednesday, June 6 – Sunday, July 8, 2018
Reception: Friday, June 22, 5:00 – 8:00

With grateful hearts, we’re humbled to present this retrospective of artwork, by Bela Petheo. This collection, complimented by stories on their relationship and acquisition, will be on loan from community members who knew Bela and admired his genuine artistry. Drawings and paintings spanning decades of practice will be on display in both the Paramount Lobby and Gallery St. Germain. Several of his figurative nudes are included in this exhibition and will be displayed exclusively in the Gallery St Germain. As one of the founding painting teachers for the Visual Arts Studios, Bela sought to demonstrate the need to study and interpret subject matter in simple honest gestures. Colleagues, now reminiscent of time together in the studio or who idled away time in his company, acquired a visual wisdom from his influence that will not soon be forgotten. It’s been written, that when we lose those special in our lives that they are no longer where they were before – that they are now, forever where we are. Such is the illustration of Bela’s legacy in our community. A year now since his absence, this exhibition is mounted to celebrate his life, his profound talent, his rare charisma and of course, his endearing sense of humor. Please join us in this celebration – all are welcome!
