The Giver

The Giver

Presented by GREAT Theatre at Helgeson Learning Lab Theatre

“An absorbing production that asks both children and adults compelling questions about how we want our world to be.” -The Oregonian

Adapted by Eric Coble
From the Newbery Award-winning book by Lois Lowry

Jonas’ world is perfect. Everything is under control. There is no war or fear or pain. When Jonas turns twelve he is chosen to train with The Giver—the keeper of the community’s collective memories. For the first time, he experiences the feeling of love, as well as the pain of hunger, loneliness, and disease that the community has suppressed. Jonas must decide if eradicating pain is worth sacrificing joy.

APPROPRIATE FOR: While appropriate for all ages, it will be most enjoyed by fifth grade and up (and those who love science fiction).
