Script in Hand: END DAYS

Script in Hand: END DAYS

Presented by GREAT Theatre at Helgeson Learning Lab Theatre

The father of the Stein family had been in a stairwell in the World Trade Center when the planes hit and he made it out alive. When the play opens, he no longer goes to work because he’s afraid to leave the house. Meanwhile, his wife, Sylvia, spends her time trying to gain more religious converts, while their daughter has recently joined the Goth movement in protest. Nelson, an upbeat new neighbor who always wears an Elvis jumpsuit, enters their lives and tries to heal the rifts. When Sylvia believes the rapture is coming one night, the whole family plus Nelson are thrown together in close quarters producing sometimes absurdly humorous, sometimes touching results.

About SCRIPT IN HAND
Our “Script In Hand Series” creates more performance and directing opportunities for local artists and introduce audiences to new plays in a full “reading/performance” of a play in which the actors are allowed to have their scripts in their hands and are not memorized. The director of each show will create blocking, and use of limited costumes, props, and sound effects, to create a performance experience for the audience. The focus is on telling the story, character development, utilizing new and experienced actors, and creating a mood that thrills the audience. Each production will have one night of open auditions, a short rehearsal schedule (no memorization) and one performance.
