Stearns History Museum Offers Area Tour of Town Ballparks

Presented by Stearns History Museum at Stearns History Museum

Discover the stories of our “Fields of Dreams” on Friday, June 28, during a Stearns History Museum tour of small-town amateur ballparks.

Stearns County Commissioner Jeff Mergen, coach of the Farming Flames, will guide us through some of the best ball diamonds in Central Minnesota, imparting stories and sharing their histories. We’ll also stop by Trappers Pub & Grub in Farming for dinner before catching a game in which the Farming Flames take on the Greenwald Cubs. Participants will be responsible for the cost of their meals, and the bus will leave the game for the Musuem no later than 10 p.m.

Stearns County has been a hotbed for amateur baseball since the 1860s and continuously leads the state annually in regional attendance. Big Leaguers whose journey took them through Stearns County ballparks include Eldon “Rip” Repulski, Greg Thayer, Jim Eisenreich, and the Thielman brothers – Jake and Henry.
