Dr. Lori Ulferts and Carol Howe-Veenstra will speak about the passage of Title IX, which was designed to correct the imbalance of collegiate and high school programs between men and women athletes.
June marks the 47th Anniversary of Title IX, the 1972 landmark law that changed girls’ and women’s sports forever. Girls went from hoping there would be a team, to hoping they would make the team. However, this law still presents challenges as it continues to be implemented. Join Dr. Lori Ulferts, SCSU Professor and former women’s basketball coach as they share stories, history, and myths about Title IX. No doubt, you will have many stories of your own!
