SCSU Department of Music welcomes Guest Artist, Nirmala Rajasekar in the Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.
On Thursday, October 3rd at 7:00pm, SCSU Department of Music welcomes Guest Artist, Nirmala Rajasekar in the Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. Recital is free and open to the public.
Nirmala Rajasekar is a world renowned Carnatic veena virtuoso and educator of South Indian Music. She has performed in venues throughout the world and is a recipient of many awards including a Bush artistic fellowship, a McKnight fellowship, Rotary Vocational Excellence award and Best Senior Veena Artiste. Nirmala has performed in a multitude of world venues such as the United Nations, Carnegie Hall, New York City, and the Walker Arts Center. She is the artistic director of the school Naadha Rasa (Essence of Tone), Center for Music. During her residency, Nirmala will be joined by percussionist Thanjavur K. Murugaboopathi.
Nirmala Rajasekar’s residency is funded by the Stephen Fuller Music Performance Residency Fund.
