Brass Day

Brass Day

Presented by Saint Cloud State University School of the Arts at SCSU- Performing Arts Center

On Saturday, December 7th, the Department of Music will be hosting Brass Day at St. Cloud State University. A full day of performance and education, Brass Day is free for students and teachers and will offer enrichment opportunities for both. The event will take place in the Performing Arts Center beginning with a meet and greet at 8:00am. The day will conclude with a large brass ensemble reading session at 2:00pm featuring all Brass Day participants. This session is also free and open to the public.

We’re excited to have two amazing guest artists. Lauren Husting is a freelance performer and soloist from the Twin cities. Jonathan Brandt is a professional trumpet player and recording artist from Minneapolis. Both are exceptional educators and performers who will share their expertise in performances and masterclasses. If you have an enthusiastic brass student interested in taking part in a masterclass with one of our guest artists, please let me know by Dec. 5th. It would be a great experience for them to receive one-on-one instruction.

In addition to masterclasses facilitated by our guest artists, students will benefit from clinics facilitated by our faculty, Patty Diederichs, French horn and Chuck Wazanowski, tuba, which will emphasize brass fundamentals and individual coaching on their instrument. Band directors will benefit from a Q&A session with our guest artists who will share their expertise and experience with instructors interested in strengthening their brass fundamentals.
