Gallery St. Germain Artist Talk: Heidi Jeub

Gallery St. Germain Artist Talk: Heidi Jeub

Presented by Paramount Center for the Arts at Paramount Center for the Arts & Gallery St. Germain

Jeub will speak about her paintings and research around the current exhibit, “Remote: An Abstract Response to Rural Flight.”

The exhibition includes abstract paintings (Oil and Acrylic) that offer a new approach to subjects that revolve around issues that rural communities face. Jeub’s graduate studies research at the University of Minnesota led her down the many roads of the rural arts experience. In that work, she found that the systematic biases against rural communities have lead to larger issues that affect education, healthcare, and public policy over decades of time. “Because the content is complex,” she says, “I prefer to work out themes in abstract forms of gesture, color, shape, and line. Then the composition is about relationships.”

Since so many of the assets or deficits of rural life are about relationships, the paintings each hold a type of relationship within the work.

This event is free and open to the general public and refreshments will be served. A social meet and greet will be held from 2:00 – 2:30pm with the art talk starting at 2:30.
