Call or Virtual Art | Eden Prairie’s PeopleFest

Presented by Eden Prairier at Online/Virtual Space

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, our event is online this year and includes significant social media engagement as well as a robust website celebrating the spirit of our annual festival, highlighting cultural competency and inclusion while supporting community engagement.

Eden Prairie’s PeopleFest! A Community Celebration of Culture is a series of educational events and a culminating party that reflect the range of traditions, backgrounds, abilities and expressions of our community through literature, music, dance, visual art, food and education offerings. While we are unable to have an in-person party this year, we are still looking for artists to share their vision and experience on the web.

PROJECT GUIDELINES

Projects must be appropriate for individuals of all ages, including children. We are looking for work that shares visual art processes, performance, dance, music and/or historical or contemporary issues. From a step-by-step video teaching visitors how to make something to dance videos and beyond- we are open to a range of ideas as long as they connect to our core goals of cultural dialogue, inclusion, visibility and connection.

Prior projects have included dance, music, sharing the art of Chinese writing, spoken word about immigrant experiences in the United States, a cricket demo, interactive storytelling, book discussions, cooking classes, community mural, sign making and more.

For the purposes of this application, we are looking for individuals or groups often silenced to share their unique voice; including but not limited to artists of color, artists with disabilities and LGBTQ+, women-identified, indigenous, or immigrant artists.

Stipends for accepted proposals range from $100–$500. Larger stipends may be available for works that engage audiences in new ways and connect to PeopleFest! values and goals.
