Art in Motion presents “Roots: a Homecoming” featuring wood-fire potter Mark Skudlarek among other artists with roots in Holdingford, Minnesota.

Closing reception: Sept 19th from 3-5 pm.

About Roots:
“Roots,” installed in the Art in Motion Gallery on August 10th, is an homage to the creativity artistic flavor grown from the topsoil of Holdingford. It is a tribute to this place, the memories and interpersonal connections that fertilize the land, and the creative productions that came from it. As a Homecoming exhibition, “Roots” relates to the homecoming journey of Art in Motion’s founder, Greg Konsor, by exhibiting artists with a similar story and connection to Holdingford. Mark Skudlarek, the featured artist, grew up in Holdingford and studied at St. Johns University. He then went on to found “Cambridge Wood-Fired Pottery” in Cambridge, Wisconsin where he now lives and makes. Skudlarek arrived at Art in Motion with his car weighted down with large planters, jars, functional plates, bowls, and mugs, and his bicycle (Holdingford is on the Wobegon Trail after all). Skudlarek will make a return trip to demonstrate the creation of his incredible clay works at the closing reception on September 19th.
