An Evening with Carrie Newcomer

Presented by CSB/SJU Fine Arts Series at Online/Virtual Space

Carrie Newcomer is a songwriter who has an Emmy and Grammy for her song “I Should Have Known Better’ that appeared on Nickel Creek’s This Side Album.  Allie Summers is a graduate of the Jacobs School of Music but began performing as a little girl in her family’s bluegrass band. Gary Walters was Jazz piano faculty at Butler University for 20 years and has internationally toured with Carrie.  Together they create a unique and exciting blend of alt. folk, classical & bluegrass elements.

An elegant folksinger with a country/bluegrass fusion, Carrie Newcomer is known for honest, authentic songwriting that illuminates life with startling depth, humor, and clarity.

An Indiana native, Ms. Newcomer sings of the small joys and pains in life, emphasizing the little moments that are often taken for granted. She is not afraid to take on serious subjects and does so with a healthy measure of good humor and self-awareness. Recognized as a soaring songstress, she is also a talented facilitator for writing, spirituality, and vocation workshops.
