St. Cloud – Steve Penick, Archivist at Stearns History Museum in St. Cloud, Minnesota, will present the webinar “In My Backyard (or at Least Nearby): Genealogy Resources at Local Historical Societies” for the St. Cloud Area Genealogists.
Penick will teach participants how to prepare for a visit to a local historical society and, using the collection at Stearns History Museum, show some of the genealogical resources that researchers may not realize are there. Resources he will explore include official records, historical publications, maps, photographs, archival materials and online resources.
Steve Penick has been in the history field for nearly 30 years, specializing in connecting local Minnesota events to the broader world. He spends weekdays employed at the Stearns History Museum’s Research Center but also pursues freelance work as a researcher, writer, and consultant. His hobbies include biking on area trails, gardening, family time, genealogy, and a perpetual old house project.
