Clay Cohort: Create Pottery for the Gas Kiln

Presented by Paramount Center for the Arts at Paramount Visual Arts Center

Explore a variety of forms on the pottery wheel and select hand-building techniques with Megan Jorgenson & JD Jorgenson every other Monday beginning September 13th. In the class “off weeks” work independently in the studio to create work and participate in the gas kiln firings. Students must be able to throw basic cylinders.

Materials list for Paramount Ceramics Classes

1.) Basic Pottery Tool Kit, including:

-Needle Tool

-Wire Tool (for cutting & removing pots from the wheel)

-Wooden Kidney Tool

-Trim Tool

*Tool kits may be purchased at the Paramount or local art supply stores (Baker’s, Michael’s & Crafts Direct)

2.) Plastic to cover your work (dry cleaning bags work great for this! )

3.) Item you would like to create texture with

4.) Ice cream pail for water

5.) Old towel

6.) Lock for your locker

7.) Clay: Your first bag of clay is included in the cost of tuition, but depending on the size and number of pieces you create you may need to purchase more. We have a variety to choose from, ranging in price from $12-$25 for a 25 pound bag.
