Join us for a spectacular three-day immersive watercolor workshop with professional artist Lisa Fetig! We will explore how to successfully create realistic watercolor landscapes, from the planning stages to completion, with an emphasis on the Properties of Color and the elements and principles of design. Lisa‘s step-by-step process will put you at ease, as she shares techniques to help you loosen up and feel confident in approaching a watercolor painting.

This workshop is designed to help guide you through the painting process with ease and will include daily demonstrations, personal critiques, and a unique opportunity to re-visit past projects with ideas on how to “fix” and finish pieces you feel have not been successful.

Day 3 Bring in old paintings Fix and Finish
Analyze what are you trying to say about this painting?
Capture the essence of your intentions using the Elements and Principles of Design.
Erase and gouache and repaint.

Watercolor Supplies:
Paint-Tube paint. Recommended brands: Winsor Newton M. Graham, Da Vinci or

(American Journey- can be purchased from Cheap Joes, www.cheapjoes.com.). I use American Journey and DaVinci pigments.

Colors: Bumblebee Yellow (Arylide), Sour Lemon (Hansa), New Gamboge,Permanent Red DaVinci Brand, Quinacridone Permanent Rose DaVinci Brand, Alizarin Crimson (Quin), Ultramarine Blue, Joe’s Blue (Phthalo), Cerulean Blue, Burnt Sienna, Winsor Green or (American Journey-Joe’s Green) and Yellow Ochre and Payne’s Gray.

Beginning Students may wish to use Grumbacher or Cotman brands which are student grade paints.
Brushes-. Brush sizes to buy- Flat brushes  1.5 or 2 inch wide, round (about the size of your index finger) and a #10 round.  Rigger or Liner #2.  Stencil brush, width of small finger.

Palette– Plastic Palette (large enough to mix puddles of paint).
I like the Stephen Quiller palette 15 x 15.
Paper- Arches watercolor paper 140 lb. cold press, or Arches Watercolor Block 14 x 20  or larger-140 lb. Cold press.
Misc- Bulldog clips-if using a single piece of paper and Gatorboard to hold paper to board, artist tape also works.
Water Container, Spray Bottle-something with a fine mist
Paper Towels, plastic palette knife or old credit card cut in thirds.
Salt, Pencil, Kneaded eraser, Liquid masking fluid and Natural Rubber pick up. Hair dryer.
Gouache “Permanent White” (it is an opaque white watercolor.)

If you have painted before and already have other materials, please feel free to bring and use what you have.
