Although many vocalists sang their own songs, including early rock & rollers like Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly, the term Singer/Songwriter refers to the legions of performers that followed Bob Dylan in the late 60s and early 70s. Singer/Songwriters drew primarily from folk and country, although some also incorporated the songcraft of Tin Pan Alley pop.
Fabulous Armadillos 2nd theme of the season will be bringing back this highly requested theme idea with a brand new show entitled SINGER/SONGWRITER II (clever huh…?) We will be playing the quintessential Singer/Songwriters of that generation and more. As the 70′s came to a close, the first wave of Singer/Songwriters dispersed into soft rock (James Taylor) and experimental avenues (Joni Mitchell) and straight ahead pop (Paul Simon and Carole King). Many contemporary Singer/Songwriters would also find success by writing with the introspection and intimacy of these early early troubadours. The Fabulous Armadillos will be showcasing many of these songs and artists from the early 70′s to today with their brand new January show “Singer/Songwriters II”.

**PARKING UPDATE** There is NO PARKING on either side of 5th Avenue between West St. Germain and 1st Street S AFTER 8pm on Thursday’s, Friday’s and Saturday’s. This is a new rule so watch for signage. Most vehicles are towed promptly at 8pm. Please be aware and if you have questions, ask a bartender for more information.
