The position of our species on this planet spiralling through an infinite expanse is absurd and captivating.  The depth of the mind and the search for the smallest indivisible unit is an equally wild frontier. Scientific and spiritual philosophies that push our understanding of the natural existence of the universe reveal instruments and practices that I pull from as inspiration for my artwork.

In a playful and intuitive process, I aim to give basic shapes such as planes, loops, particles, and waves a new life through my formal and material explorations. My work calls attention to recurring forms found in my observations of nature, technology, architecture and other purposeful objects that we make.  The elemental structures of a multidimensional world are revealed through sculptural parts that are balanced, stacked, poured, and exalted. Invoking memories of ceremonial spaces and tools of logical inquiry with my assemblages, I create a scenario and suggest a universal visual language that spans across many cultures.

Emitted in the diverse technical and transformational ceramic processes are insights on the behavioral qualities of matter, space, temperature and time. The responsiveness, strength, and fragility of clay make it a versatile instrument to record the physical forces enacted on it during the production process.

There is an exchange of measurable and immeasurable forces between nature and that of our physical and mental existence.  Through a ceramic and interdisciplinary approach, I follow these conversations and spiritual relationships, bringing form to the overlooked phenomena of daily life.
