Special Holiday music by Handel, Corelli and Leopold Mozart, plus a Carol Sing Along.
The program will center around Baroque composer Arcangelo Corelli’s ‘classic’ Concerto Grosso (Opus 6/8), better known as his Christmas Concerto, and Overture and Pastoral Symphony (PIFA) from George F. Handel’s oratorio Messiah. To celebrate Winter, join us as we are going on a Sleigh-Ride: selected movements from Leopold Mozart’s (Wolfgang Amadeus’ father) Divertimento in F – Musical Sleigh-Ride (Musikalische Schlittenfahrt). Also on the program: a beautiful setting of Pueri Concinite by 19th century composer Johann R. v. Herbeck and the Symphony opus 11/1 by Joseph Bologne (the Chevalier de St. George) Mozart’s contemporary and best remembered as the first known classical composer of African ancestry and by many considered to be the young Mozart’s equal).
Free Admission – but donations at the door are welcome.
Covid protocol: Atonement Lutheran Church does not require masks but, considering the duration of the concert and the inclusion of a Carol-Sing-Along, we would appreciate and strongly recommend the wearing of masks.
