Our Narratives Workshop

Our Narratives Workshop

Presented by The Whitney Gallery at The Whit Gallery

Join us for a 3 hour workshop with visual artist, Heidi Jeub, and hip hop performer, Terrell Woods (aka Carnage The Executioner / Terrell X), as part of a year long project, Our Narratives. Developing a personal narrative is important, but connecting it to a larger community narrative can assist in better understanding of how a community works (or doesn’t) during challenging times.

This workshop will explore different methods of telling our stories, through visual, written, and performing art. Jeub and Woods will guide participants through a variety of activities in different methods of storytelling so that everyone can find new ways to speak their truth.
You will explore narrative collage, a method developed by Jeub as a way to tell a complex story through gathering of images. *An email will be sent to participants to bring items related to this activity, however, other materials will be available for use.

With Terrell X, you will explore how struggle leads to solutions and healing through writing, leading to a looped addition to a performance composed on the spot with Terrell and other participants. (no musical experience necessary.)
Disclaimer: Subjects may be challenging, but it is our hope to hold space for hope and healing. Therefore, come as you are! Your world view and life path is important and valued.

This activity is made possible by the Central Minnesota Arts Board and the McKnight Foundation. This is part of a long series of community-based storytelling events and activities with The Whit Gallery and the Tiny School of Art & Design.
