When author Sheila O’Conner attempted to uncover secrets about her family, she discovered the little-known history of incarcerating adolescent girls for “immorality” throughout MN. Books are available for immediate checkout at GRRL-Sauk Centre.

2pm-3pm Author Sheila O’Conner

O’Conner tells the riveting story of V, a talented fifteen-year-old singer in 1930s Minnesota who aspires to be a star. This work reveals a silenced story, which affected thousands of Minnesota families. Hear about research, her ongoing work to bring history to light, and how this lost past remains relevant to girls and women today.

Short presentation of “The Minnesota Home School 1911-1976” written by Joan McDonald. Please join us for a time of sharing and discussion of how the Home School impacted our community.
