The performance will relate to experiences that portray stories or expressions that exhibit the tumultuous choices humanity faces throughout the world and history during war times along with expressions of love in a torn world.
CMYO will perform the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky to gain an understanding of how music was used to not only entertain with portrayals of battles but, to show how music history was in sync with a highly charged political arena at the time.
Additionally, a suite arrangement created for strings highlights moments from The Planets Mars: Bring of War. The piece embodies the dark, looming sounds that foreshadow the ancient Roman god of war, Mars. Mahler’s beloved piece is Symphony no. 5 – Adagietto which was thoughtfully and lovingly crafted for his wife.
