Sculpture Walk St. Cloud

Presented by Paramount Center for the Arts at Paramount Theatre

The Paramount Center for the Arts announces two sculpture awards for the 2018 Sculpture Walk St. Cloud.  Tim James & Aidan Demarais are the winners of the 2018 Best of Show Award, a cash prize of $1,000.   Tim James and Aidan Demarais worked together to create “Synchronous”, an 8-foot kinetic sculpture made of gears, sprockets and pulleys welded together to form a revolving sphere that hangs between two opalescent steel columns.   It’s located at 810 Saint Germain Street, and will be on exhibit through April 2018.

The People’s Choice award, a cash prize of $500, went to Hastings, MN artist Dale Lewis for his 10-foot sprawling “Crocodile” made of salvaged electrical parts, severed butter knives and other found objects. “Crocodile” watches for prey at the corner of 8th Avenue South and 1st Street South with a widely-opened mouth, glass eyes and teaspoon eyelids.

The second season of Sculpture Walk St. Cloud is a one-year outdoor display of sculptures from acclaimed Minnesota artists. The 2018 Sculpture Walk consists of 9 sculptures, 6 temporary ones and 3 permanent pieces.  All the sculptures are for sale.   Awards were selected by public voting and the evaluations from a jury of art, business, education and community leaders. The artwork will be on exhibit in downtown St. Cloud and on the north side of Lake George through June 2018.  Self-guided tour brochures and maps are available in the Paramount Theatre Lobby and the Gift Gallery.
