“The Sound of Music” comes alive on the stage in the Paynesville Area High School Auditorium on July 24, 25, 26, and 27, with a cast of delightful children, nuns, and the Von Trapp family and friends!
Based loosely on the story of the real Von Trapp family, the musical tells the story of a young novice, Maria, who is about to take her vows to become a nun. Before she takes that step, she is sent to be a governess for a local family for a period of several months, where she instantly falls in love with the children, and eventually a love blossoms between Maria and the widowed father of the children.
In the midst of the German takeover of Austria, the family faces some difficult choices regarding cooperation with the new German regime. The story culminates with their eventual departure from their beloved Austria, seeking a new life for their family.
