Meet me at the Intersection of Public Art and Placemaking

Meet me at the Intersection of Public Art and Placemaking

Presented by Central Minnesota Arts Board at Great River Regional Library - St. Cloud

Artists, performers, designers, community organizers, government workers, developers and others!

Join us for this introduction to the big world of contemporary public art and creative placemaking presented by Jack Becker, a nationally-rnowned leader in the field. Jack is founding director of Forecast Public Art, where he established a statewide grant program for MN artists and Public Art Review magazine, the world’s leading publication devoted to public art.

Jack will present a wide variety of artful possibilities and engage participants in exploring the challenges and opportunities available in this expanding field—for artists, place-based designers, community developers and city builders. We’ll explore community engagement and participatory practices, discuss issues of equity and inclusion in public life and consider options for future workshops or work that dives deeper into these topics.

Come and see ways that intentionally engaging artists, makers and creatives can change and improve project outcomes (large and small) and impact entire communities!!

This workshop is held in conjunction with the Artist Consortium. Sessions are FREE and designed for Artists, Makers and Creatives in Region 7W to blend workshops or presentations with opportunities for artists to socialize, network and discuss topics important to their community or discipline.
