Dover String Quartet

Presented by Chamber Music Society of St. Cloud at Atonement Lutheran Church

The Chamber Music Society of Saint Cloud 2014-2015 season opens with a concert by the Dover String Quartet on Friday, September 12.

Program:
Mozart: Quartet in D Major, K. 499
Vivian Fung: Quartet No. 3
Dvorak: Quartet in C Major, Op. 61

The Dover Quartet was catapulted to international stardom following a stunning sweep of the 2013 Banff International String Quartet Competition (BISQC), winning the Grand Prize as well as all three Special Prizes: the R.S. Williams & Sons Haydn Prize for the best performance of Haydn, the Székely Prize for the best performance of Schubert, and the Canadian Commission Prize for the best performance of Vivian Fung’s String Quartet No. 3. The Dover is becoming one of the most in-demand ensembles in the world. The New Yorker recently dubbed them “the young American string quartet of the moment,” and The Strad raved that the Quartet is “already pulling away from their peers with their exceptional interpretive maturity, tonal refinement and taut ensemble.” In 2013-14, the Quartet became the first ever Quartet-in-Residence for the venerated Curtis Institute of Music.
