Exploring the Relationship of Music and Literature – the Daedalus Quartet and special guest Minnesota “stars” mix Beethoven, Tolstoy and more
The Daedalus Quartet and special guests will explore music and literary texts associated with Beethoven’s “Kreutzer Sonata.” The quartet will be joined by two Minnesota “stars” – Minnesota Orchestra cellist Pitnarry Shin and Linda Kelsey, a multiple Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated actor with an extensive and impressive array of stage and screen credit.
Their April 7 St. Cloud program features Leoš Janáček’s String Quartet No. 1 “Kreutzer Sonata”; Sergei Taneyev’s Allegro from String Quartet No. 2, Op. 5; Tchaikovsky’s Andante cantabile from String Quartet No. 1, Op. 11; and Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 9 in A Major “Kreutzer” arranged for string quintet. These pieces will be performed together with Linda Kelsey reading from Leo Tolstoy’s “The Kreutzer Sonata” and Sophia Tolstaya’s “Song Without Words”
While in St. Cloud, the quartet will visit Sartell Middle School, North Junior High School, St. Cloud State University, and the St. Cloud Suzuki Studio.
The concert is sponsored in part by Kenneth and Janet Panger.
Tickets will be available at the door or online. Adult, $25; Senior, $20; Student, $5
