Explore the Basics of Marquetry

Presented by Paramount Center for the Arts at Paramount Visual Arts Center

Marquetry is the art and craft of producing pictures and decorative designs using the grain, figure, and color of wood veneers and other materials. The design created using these veneers is glued to a base.

This class will cover the basics of selecting and using veneer, cutting a design from the veneer, assembling the pieces, and gluing and finishing the completed picture. All materials and tools are included. The student will leave with the basic tools and supplies to continue working on an additional project of their own.

Instructor for the class is Don Peterson. Don has been doing marquetry for several years. He completed classes with Paul Schurch. Don is with the Central Minnesota Woodworkers and is also active in the local, Lakeland, Chapter of the American Marquetry Society.
