Headwater Blues

Headwater Blues

Presented by Pioneer Place on Fifth / 111 Rock at Pioneer Place on Fifth

Returning to the Pioneer Place after four years, the Head Water Blues Opry is an exciting fresh blues musical written by Poet Rex Veeder and blues great, Leon Laudenbach. In 2010 it souled out and became an event people are still talking about. Now it is back! Years in the making, this exciting “opry” will feature the talents of many blues musicians and a host of actors telling the unique story of a small town Minnesota blues player breaking into the Delta Blues. The story of Whit Homme has been turned into a theatrical event that everyone can experience. Set in a fictitious bar – a combination of Buddy Guy’s Legends and a barn – this story evolves around the story of someone, like all of us, struggling to find his place in the world. And in this case, it’s the world of blues.

Head Water Blues is opening the annual Survive and Thrive Arts Festival this year. The musical is not only a whole lot of fun but also as one person who attended says “the theme is about reaching the deeper parts of ourselves that are bigger than our trauma, our economics, our limitations and finding a path to healing.”

Complete with a 15 song musical and integrated script, this show is sure to rock your bones. It will be souled out soon, so get your tickets early and often.
