Previously having performed to sell-out crowds with Rocket Club and The Fabulous Armadillos, Chris is no stranger to the St. Cloud area. A part of KFAN’s Powertrip Morning Show by day, Chris has been singing amazing lead vocals for years.

You can hear Chris’s newest single, “My Kinda Crazy” on local radio stations, 98.9 Wild Country and K102, and you can find it for purchase on iTunes! Find out more at www.chrishawkey.com. Check out the new lyric video posted to the right.

Born December 25, 1970 to parents Linda and Duane, and big brother Mike, in the small, rural, stateline community of Union City, Indiana, Christopher Allen Hawkey quickly adopted his family’s passion for sports, and racing in particular. Chris found success in the regional BMX circuit as well as go karts.
By age 16, music became a stronger lure and with the urging and supervision of his parents, he answered an ad in the local newspaper for a lead singer, passed the audition and found himself singing in local clubs on the weekends.
After graduating from high school in 1989, Hawk found himself in broadcasting school by day and working split shifts at several area radio stations and still performing on stage at nights, but life was about to change.

Landing a job at one of Dayton’s top rock stations opened the door to meeting many of the day’s most popular acts, as well as those with national ties in the radio industry. A romantic relationship blossomed, followed by an offer to produce a new morning radio program in Virginia. Packing his bags, Chris was headed for Virginia Beach. Soon after, the job was lost when the host took a job at another local station.
The pull to test the waters of a singing career was strong and Hawk decided to pack his bags once again. L.A. seemed the logical place and he quickly settled in working small jobs to earn a living while auditioning for bands. He found a group looking for a lead singer and “Moonshine” was born. An album quickly followed along with a national tour. The band achieved limited success and after a year, Chris was at a crossroads.
Once again he hit the road, this time back to Virginia Beach and to whom was to become his wife. She was offered a new job in the Minneapolis/St. Paul MN. area and the cards fell into place. They married and were off to the Twin Cities.
Img-7655A son was born and a new role as stay at home Dad was followed by enrolling at the University of Minnesota. During his Jr. year, Hawk returned to radio and was soon hosting his own program, “KFAN Motorsports”, then “The Power Trip” as Producer and Co-host, positions he still holds today.
In 2002, at the urging of a close friend, Chris delved back into the world of music and released a self produced CD named “Minutes to Memories”. Chris and his band became a regular part of the local music scene and a fan base developed. He teamed up with a charity named Spinal Muscular Atrophy to promote awareness for the illness. Additional music was added to the original album and “Minutes to Memories” was re-released with proceeds going to SMA.
A daughter was born, and performing live shows in the Twin Cities areas continued. Having teamed up with several of the areas songwriters and producers, Hawk released a third CD, “The Pursuit”. Through the collaboration efforts on his latest album, Chris was offered the chance to join the band “Rocket Club” and together, several albums have been released along with performances opening for many of Country music’s best known acts.
