Jacob John has truly been performing all of his life. His earliest memory of performance was walking up and down the isle of an Amtrak train singing at the top of his lungs at the age of 5 on a family trip to Canada. Throughout his childhood music was always around, whether it was his sister endlessly practicing scales on the piano or his mother and father practicing songs for church or funerals. Through the duration of schooling from finger-painting to college instruction (advanced finger-painting), Jacob was always involved with choir or some form of musical endeavor. These years helped him to carve his voice and appreciate the beauty in singing together with others and even finding the sounds of his own. For one reason or another, however, Jacob lost connection with his calling. He went on trying to fill other shoes and after a while, it became clear that something wasn’t quite right. The next stage in Jacob John’s life found him wanting to go even further down the rabbit hole chasing after the exploration of life and what he loved about it…and music was going with him. He learned how to play a few instruments to express his different interests and moods. Singing, playing the piano, and also picking up the bass guitar seemed to fit just right. And just how life comes full circle, he found that the love for performing wasn’t fading away, but growing stronger. As if his child soul was telling him something.
