Business Jams

Presented by Independent Music Collaborative of Central Minnesota at Pioneer Place on Fifth

Independent Music Collaborative of Central Minnesota (IMCCM) is presenting its first Business Jam, featuring musicians Paul Spring, Carrie Schneider and Pete Johnson. Each musician will take the stage telling the different aspects of the local music business. They will play music and share their unique stories, while the audience is encouraged to engage through a Q & A session, and additional social time to engage with other community members interested in music and art, as a career and as an audience member. Aspiring musicians of all ages are encouraged to participate!

What Are “Business Jams?”

Business Jam is an event that combines the intimacy of a house concert with the inspirational content of a TEDtalk. Artists are invited into a space, food is served and socializing leads into a performance. Yet, instead of having the artist share stories relating to their music, they talk about how their business has formed, lessons they have learned, and projects they are working on. The audience will mostly be musicians of all ages and technical skill sets and will be invited to ask questions and engage both with the performer(s) and the other musicians and arts professionals in the room. Following the performance, there will be networking for the musicians and audience. This all fits within the mission and vision of the Independent Music Collaborative of Central Minnesota.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Central MN Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
