Joe Henry, executive director of the Lake of the Woods Tourism Bureau, will speak about the history and beauty of this northern Minnesota area at 9 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, at the Stearns History Museum’s Breakfast Club.
Lake of the Woods occupies parts of Minnesota and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba. Once an important fur-trading route between the Great Lakes and and western Canada, it is now known as a premier vacation destination with world-class fishing,abundant wildlife, and sheer natural beauty. Henry will talk about the region’s uniqueness and its rich tradition of farming, which includes hosting the World Championship of Ploughing.
