The CMAB features area artists who have received a McKnight Emerging or Established Artist Award. Up to eight artists located in Minnesota counties of Benton, Sherburne, Stearns or Wright are awarded.
Seven Emerging Artists receive a $3,000 award with the purpose of recognizing and encouraging outstanding individual artists in various stages of their careers in Central Minnesota
An Established Artist receives a $5,000 award designed to recognized artists with a history of exhibition, performances, publications or other notable contributions to their local arts community.
The Central Minnesota Arts Board (CMAB) has served Region 7W, since 1979 as a non-profit arts organization governed by a nine-member volunteer board of directors recruited from the four counties it serves. As one of eleven Regional Arts Councils designated by the Minnesota State Arts Board, its purpose is to promote and encourage the arts in the four-county area of Benton, Sherburne, Stearns, and Wright Counties (Region 7W). The CMAB does this by funding grant proposals from area arts and community organizations, schools, governmental units, and individuals.
