Ben Ranson | Gathering Wool

Ben Ranson is a Minnesota-bred, Berklee-trained singer-songwriter whose instrument is the nylon-string guitar and whose subject matter includes “potato inspectors, love, taxidermists, garbage men, grasshoppers, local rodeo accidents, and the cuisine of the town of Barnesville, MN.” Needless to say, not all these songs are entirely serious, but Ben’s guitar work certainly is. http://www.benranson.com/

Gathering Wool–Cathie English, Paul Drinkwine, and Randy Mickelberg–has played around town quite bit, including on on our stage, though not together until recently. In trio format, they cover a lot of musical ground–songwriting, vocals, guitar, cello, harmonica, recorder–with all kinds of interesting overlapping interactions.
