Matilda the Musical

Based on the 1988 novel by Roald Dahl, “Matilda! The Musical” follows the extraordinary journey of Matilda Wormwood, a neglected yet bright and imaginative young girl who faces constant mistreatment and ridicule by her neglectful parents and her school’s oppressive and tyrannical headmaster. With the support and friendship of her compassionate teacher, Matilda is inspired to take a stand to better her life and change her story.

Filled with enchanting music, witty humor, and poignant moments of triumph, the musical celebrates resilience, friendship, and the power of imagination. It reminds audiences of all ages that even in the face of adversity, one can find the strength to change the world for the better.

“Matilda! The Musical” is being presented by BLMS and BLHS theater students, led by director Samantha Glover, musical director Brie Hawkins, and set director Ashley Hemze. The play was written by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin.
