Mike Dowling

A Mike Dowling set is likely to cover a very wide swath of American musical territory–country blues, jump blues, country, swing–plus originals that might be rooted in musette or Latin traditions. He has worked with fiddle greats Vassar Clements and Joe Venuti and mando wizard Jethro Burns, spent some years songwriting in Nashville (with wife Jan), and even more years teaching guitar skills at camps and workshops across the country. Mike has long been a  guitarist’s guitarist–Jethro Burns said, “I don’t play guitar when Dowling’s in the band. You don”t take the game warden fishing.” He sings pretty good, too.
