The Dragonfly Sculpture installation at East Bridge Park gives Monticello’s residents and visitors another significant stop on our Arts Trail. The Sculpture was created by Parker McDonald, a local steel fabrication sculptor and muralist.
This park is known locally as “the garden park” because it has been cared for and cultivated for many years by a very dedicated team of volunteer gardeners who work with our parks department on planning, planting and maintaining it every year. This park also played a role in dragonfly research in MN. Monticello native Arne Myrabo helped found the Dragonfly Society of MN and conducted scientific studies at East and West Bridge Parks for many years. Parker’s Dragonfly Sculpture fits in perfectly with the design and history of the park, and was a special request from the East Bridge Gardeners.
